would be nice if there was a starting line cam. we could see crowd and the other events that happen before and after the start.
Has the teams left yet? Out of state and watching
A blessing for all the racers and trail class to come in safely and return to warm homes.
Good luck to you all!
They start at 11:00, and were to let one team go every 2 minutes until 12:18 - so about now. So many teams this year!

why track any of the racers if it's not required equipment for everybody? makes for a rather incomplete and meaningless visual, doesn't it? where is team #22?
any word on team 9, why havent they left Skwenta?
Is team #23 still in shell lake it says that they scratched is this true?
as of 208 p.m. today's date.....team 8, team 10 and team 14 are about 5-10 miles south of puntilla lake.....
team 37 gps ping 226 north of shell lake
team 23 gps pinged on 210 pm well past shell going into finger lake area...27 miles from puntilla lake
Any word on 34?

good luck to all the rookies
Thank you! I'm really pulling for all the racers to make it home safe, their families are waiting on the yukon! Go racers!
looks like team 3 is on the move go shane go its your year!!
Has anyone herd how the snow cover is in the Farewell Burn
Good luck to the racers.
Is their any info on the wounded warrior team and why did they scratch? another Skidoo that lets there team down.
We are so proud of you SKIP and Team 51 , seen your grandbabies today , They're so cute and smiling , your Brother Bobby is tracking you also.
LOVE YOUR SISTER DEBBIE
I seen team 15 limping back from the river....it sounded like they may have lost the Diamond Drive. Anyone have more info???
Look at those top three go.
Seen quite a few wreck sights on the back from Skwentna. Couple puddles of anti-freeze too. Lets go TNT.
Any ideas why it's taking some of these boys so long to get to Puntilla? Wrecks?
Seen one member of at least three teams with no windshield or one of the riders holding the windshield in their lap on the go. All CAT.
Bummer..Any idea's what teams those are?
GO POLARIS TEAMS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cant remember any of the bib numbers, but two of the teams were running Crossfire CATs. The other was an F6 model. Looked like an older machine, definitely the original F series model.
any idea why team 42 scratched so early in the race?
any word on team 8?
GO TEAM 17!!! KEEP IT UP!!!!
Team 22- been on my heart all week, didn't get to come by, wanted to say a prayer for you guys. Good thing God is everywhere and timeless. Know that you are covered by a warm blanket of prayer. May you be blessed by everyone you encounter and be a blessing to all you meet.
May God of Power and Victory bless all of you riders with Joy, Protection and Perseverance!
Hope all is well out there! Keep watching for those boys to make it through Puntilla.
Go team #11
I don't really rely on the times just yet on the first day. There is a lot going on and with 38 teams still running, it will be probably more realistic tommorrow morning. Still fun to see how the teams are doing though.
Galena Gurlz-
Hey we are waiting patiently in Galena!! Hopefully get some good pictures and updates. I was sending pictures to Lahka but I see he is in the race-anyone know who to send them to?? Good luck to all racers!! Go Interior Boys!!
Go Team #19 from the Shibleys in Idaho!
Anyone hear from Blizzard Boy this year, I'm sure they are going to be needing some hot plugs and fresh gas.
galena gurlz
You can send photos to the iron dog site. Go to the gallery page they mention it there.
stephanie george is hot
Go Mark Go! Stay Safe! Dad
Any word on 34? Seems like they should have some sort of update on them....
what's the deal with team 55 showing up on the gps map?
1st Team to McGrath, Minnick and Olstad. Go Polaris.
team 55 is a trail class team.
723 post.....team 55 is the only trail class team that has the WCC gps unit hooked up......the whole field of trail class are kinda sticking together....they are on trail or probably in the galena for the night.........
Let's root for everyone to go and come home safe!
Now, figure out where your team is and quit asking us. Not everyone is rooting for 22. As far as the villagers are concerned, 22 can limp in behind the last trail class team.
Sorry to sound rough, but man, enough about the old men.
team 5 moving right along in the burn......gps pinged up 736 p tonight....good job
old or young.....let's just give everybody an atta boy......what a great race for some wonderful athletes
thats a fast time for the teams to mcgrath 2nite
about 45 minutes ahead of previous years
wow, thats pretty good
PS.
Checkpoint workers can make mistakes, and the data enterers can screw up too, so take all the data on the team tracking/checkpoint info. with a grain of salt.
Sorry for my other post, its sounded harsh.
sure wish the gps units were working so we could see all the racers in the field moving up the course
were the units tested at the saftey inspection?
would be nice to really see how the racers make up time out there or how their times compare to leaders or followers
Let's root for our own teams but wish everyone safe runs.
Don't make comments about all villagers wishing something and that's not true. I'm a villager and I don't want 22 to be the last in the field. It's a race and they can't help that they got experience, endurance, and they are good. The best sleds holding up will do well.
Good Luck to all and avoid the frost bite.
Pat
team 10 getting close to mcgrath
vote for roy & nikole...!!!
How come on the GPS it shows team 4 way in towards the back, but in the results it shows them further up?
any word on team #12?
803 post....take a look at gps pg...team 4 on the move 748 pm ping on puntilla lake....
Anybody know what is going on with team 12 they have been stopped at the top of the alaska range for a couple of hours not a good spot.Gettin worried
Good luck Unch & Jade #13 and Tyler & Troy #25!!
Is Rohn still checking in? Those teams seem over-due.
About the gps units - per the Iron Dog last night there were 8 teams with nonfunctioning gps units. Not sure whether it was user error or a problem on WCC's end. I'm sure they'll get it figured out.
Anybody got the temp in McGrath?
Team #12 is overdue to Rohn anybody know what teams had gps problems
Good Luck All Racers, Keep up the good work. We will be waiting for you in fairbanks Team # 17!!!
Looks like team #12 is on the move now.
GO Team #22 and #23
Eat more Ice Cream!
Go team 4, 37, 26, 34, 6, and 27; and all teams (especially polaris) I'll be wasting the next week watching the computer screen.
Ryan, still looking for #12. Old Man
team 12 pinged up 905 pm 2 nite somewhere on trail out of rohn
watch them by linking up to
http://www.irondog.org/gps.htm
play around with this page....you can overlay course for team 14 and see how team 12 times and locations compare to each other...team 14 never went off the gps page today.....
go team 8! ....woot....woot....woot....
whats happininout there?
These guys (team 22) are the most known team in this race, and you can root for them if you like, along with all the other Anchorageites who only know them, and no other teams.
I hope they don't get hurt, I hope they finish, I hope they enjoy racing with the other guys.
I actually heard one of that team gloat how great he is, what with doing this race at his age. Then I heard another racer (who has been champion) say "...yeah?, Well, I hope when I'm you're age I'm smart enough to have quit doing this race..".
Everyone in the room laughed.
southpaw, thanks for info on #12
helpful hint
gps page
you don't have to have three teams onthe overlay...you can also compare the in times to any checkpoints as they relate to a team that is continually pingin on the gps page.....such as 14, 10, or team 8 ...if you are unsure where they waypoints are compare a flag time to the in/out times for any teams that have genourous ping info.....it might take a little work, but if you want the info its worth it....
If anybody out there has photos of this years race (start, checkpoints, etc.) please e-mail to:
photos@irondog.org so they can be posted.
Txs,
np onstep, i am one whacked out total iron dog fan....just ask southpaw...hahahahaha
or you can ask rusty pup....she on my right side tonight
Go Team 13!
couple more teams in mcgrath
GO TEAM 14. YOU GUYS DESERVE IT YEAR!!!!!!!
THIS YEAR. (oops)
Usually, when Scott is talking about racing the Iron Dog for so many years he is sharing the passion he's had for this race for so many years. He has shown a TRUE PASSION for this race and has helped get this race where it is today - He can gloat all he wants in my book!
What are the layover times in McGoo? Or should I say how long are the layovers last till they ride again?
The will most likely take a 12 hour in McGrath. or McGooo!
It looks like team 37 went through rohn at 7:16 according to the GPS, Rohn must not be reporting.
It's pretty cold out there tonight. I got a call from a racer that said it was -37 below in Rohn. Not sure why Rohn isn't reporting the teams coming through. Looking at the GPS tracker, several teams have left Rohn and are on their way to Nikolai and McGrath.
i am happy to see the blog finally got on step
One week glued to the computer
Does anyone have any idea what might have caused team #17 Van/Dick to fall back?
What about starting those machines tomorrow morning on the clock at
-30 or so below - that might cause some lost time..
Does anyone know why Rohn is not reporting, or why Iron Dog HQ is not updating the teams through Rohn?
Team 9 into Skwentna with busted up hood and no windshield. Bought a windshield, taped up the hood and up the trail they went after some confusion as to whether Skwentna was an official layover point or not.
rohn is a sat phone comm only...sometimes very difficult to get a signal....in a valley
looks like there are a bunch of teams out of rohn on the burn heading to nikolai
nikolai is not a layover so all teams will have to keep moving to mcgrath
Thanks for the update!
Or information, rather.
team 11 bush boys from nome on the run to mcgrath....great job
thats ironic bout team 9 because there buddys with team 19 and on tuesday they took a quick run to skwentna and busted up there hood and windsheild too
That sucks that that happened to team 9 this early on in the race. Doesn't sound major though.
Nice run team #5. Way to show em what a rookie team can do. Ride safe.
Go Farley Brothers! Can't wait to see you in Nome!!!
i hope the boys warm up in mcgrath. anyone have a weather update for nikolai and mcgrath?
News just reported for -32 below in McGrath tonight, hope those teams still out there get in safe.
Frostbite is a huge factor. Like you, I hope they get into McGrath safely. Thanks.
Is there anyone online in McGrath? We'd like to here info on incoming teams.
Has Nikolai been reporting?
kriska on the course about 3 hours behind team 14 on the gps page ping 923 pm from this afternoon's team 14 ping of 532 pm ..... kriska was 1 hour later in the starter order
1028 post....nikolai looks like they are on top of tonight...onloy about 15 minute delay in getting the times on the iron dog web site....they are very busy out there...lots of teams have come through and are coming through the burn now
According to the gps 11 and 23 racing in the night go yamaha
Go Team #31!!! Doin' pretty good!!! Keep it up Jake and Dan!!! Also to #29, sorry to hear the troubles encountered early, but hopefully the problems are passed!!! Keep on crusin Fred and Peter!!!
team 6.....garage is quiet and seems little too empty around here.....hope you are making your way to or through rohn.....and nikoali and will bed down in mcgrath
Thanks for the reply to the 1028 post. It is difficult to get away from the computer right now.
Go Team #11
looks like some teams are stuck in Rohn waiting for parts.
good job spud buds team 19....into nikolai 1030 pm gps ping
Does any one know about team 42 yet. I'm really worried!
