copied from other blog: I don't get the 1/2 hour stagger start, if the second team passes the first team and comes in 10 minutes ahead of them across the finish line, all the fans go crazy ya da ya da... aren't they still in 2nd place???? Sounds stupid from a fans perspective sitting at the finish line..... ow no dude, they didn't really win it just looks that way DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS THE CASE? I HAVE FRIENDS WAITING ON THE LINE IN FBKS THAT MIGHT GET CONFUSED & EXCITED FOR THE WRONG TEAM.

What's stupid about it, I see the point. What George/Drake come into Fairbanks half hour ahead of 14, they aren't first place finishers, they're still second aren't they? I don't think the people at the finish line all crowded around will be doing time conversions and trying to sort it out

LET THEM HAVE THEIR YEAR? As long as its not team 22. Oh yeah crown them champions and show the world that the stupid Irondog board of directors is not man enough to label team 22 cheaters but has no qualms about taking hearsay and suspending time off other teams because they did an "investigation" ( pretty biased when you only ask one person). Either way the board is lucky my team had to scratch or else I would have been forced to raise some stink. BUT after all that said I wish only the best for team 14. Mckenna and Qualm are good guys and they had a good race. So did Drake and George. Congratulations to all the other teams that are going to finish the toughest and longest race in the world, where anything can happen and change things in a second.

You obviously didn't get the context of the message. I didn't mean that I wanted 22 to win, and I am not even rootin for them, actually going for Booth and Barber. But the point is, enough about all hearsay of DQs, out side help, the freight sled, all that BS. The other point is, some team is going to win today, LET THEM HAVE THEIR DAY. So pull your head out your ass and look at the bigger picture, Dipshit!

So does anyone know if there will be any kind of hold in Nenana. Would be a shame if a close finish was spoiled by the staggered restart as it looks like 18 is gaining ground. Winner should cross the line first!!!!!!!!!

how anti-climatic for #18 to come across the finish line ahead of #14 and still be in 2nd place. Dumb way to finish a race. Forget the photo finish, who cares if it doesn't represent much. Will be fun to watch the close teams

Every team across that finish line today is a winner. You people just lost fellow riders to an avalanche, show some respect for the sport.

agree with you on the finish line....i don't understand why the race marshal decided that 1/2 hour was enough time to give teams a cushion to protect the racers from having to race against a team that isn't going to alter their finish position....this is a race for the racers not us desk jockey folks

Good points about the goofy finish. Don't discount team 18 just yet; if 14 makes any mistakes, team 18 could just turn this into a different race. Good job team 5. My team 8 scratched & that's a bummer, so good luck the rest of you. Go team 18!

i got your context and you are the problem you stated in your blog that scott cheated and that they should label them cheaters which is only your opinion and that is why you don't have a clue about what your talking about. the board does a good job you need to either run the race or become a race offical and then you might pull your head out of your ass.

2/16/2008 10:55:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

10:51 of course they are all winners and I have the most respect for them having lived and breathed this race for many years. That is not the point being made. It will suck for #14 to come in after #18 and have all the fans over high 5n and distracted. First place team deserves to dust the crowd first, the fans come out for that. MUCHO RESPECTO to all, OF COURSE!
