My name is Tanner Novak; I was born in Anchorage, Alaska. To this day I still live in Anchorage with my Mom; Autumn, my step dad; Dean, my brother; Austin, and my sister; Nevada. I’m 17 my brother is 15, my brother and I are exactly two years apart on the same day, and my younger sister is 10.
The scariest thing I have ever experienced happened during the summer time doing a mid-night float on the Kenai River. It was around 3 in the morning and we were fishing and this bear came walking down the bank with-in 50 feet of us with-out us knowing, once we realized it was there we yelled at it and it ran back up the bank. After being stumped by how freaky that was we went back to fishing and 30 minutes later the same bear came back but this time it was swimming under the water going down stream; what the bear did when we scared it the first time it ran up stream from us and then got in the water and body floated down looking for fish. When the bear came out of the water it was no more than 15 feet from me and my friend, shocked like nothing else I couldn’t bring my-self to move, once the bear saw me and my friend it took off in a full run up the bank and we didn’t see it again.
In five years I see myself going to college and continuing my filed of work in the fish and game field. I’m also looking at the Alaska State Troopers.
My favorite song is The Field By Mason Jennings and my favorite food is moose, I eat moose almost every night for dinner.
If I could go to any three places in the world I would go back to Italy for a while, I would travel to Germany to see my uncle who is stationed there in the Air force, and I would want to go to Mexico for the sun.
During the school year I spend my fee time out of school hanging out with friends and driving around the hillside overlooking the whole city and all its lights in the pristine cold. In the summer I spend my time working on a 700 acres farm in Palmer, throwing hay bales, feeding Buffalo and Elk. When I’m not working on the farm I’m floating on the Kenai River with family and friends, watching wild life and catching fish.
I hope your looking forward to the exchange as I am and meeting you all.
