After some debate and hearing feedback from the racers, the Board of Directors has made some adjustments to the rules for 2017. As of today, the new Pro Class rules take effect.
In general, most of the feedback and subsequent edits to the Rules came from racer feedback and a board committee who looked at every suggestion before making some refinements for the 2017 race season.
Below are some of the changes and brief explanation for the rule adjustment(s). Please read the Rules closely, especially the yellow highlighted areas to see what has changed for 2017.
Racer Assistance (Sec. 7.7.)
- Only ACTIVE (on the clock) racers are allowed to assist other racers. This rule was added to clarify the intent of when it is acceptable for teams to receive assistance from their fellow racers.
Checkpoint and Layover Operations (Sec. 9.)
- Quite a few edits were made to this area to clarify the rules especially related to towing and declaring layovers.
- New details on major engine repairs.
- Pro Class payouts and purse changes. Legal requirements are making it more challenging to release funds immediately following the race, and there is now more time for Race Marshals to validate their final standings before cash prizes are awarded.
Again, read ALL of the 2017 Rules. You will be agreeing to these rules when you register!
You can always find the current rules listed under Entry -> Race Rules menu.
