Hall of Fame inductees Jim Palin and Scott Davis were honored last night at the kick off to the 34th Iron Dog – World’s Longest Snowmobile Race.
I started in 1996 when Jim Palin hired me to manage this amazing race. I saw a lot of friends last night, and plan to spend part of today catching up with some of the racers I didn’t get a chance to see last night.
It was a bittersweet night for me as I got to say some special words about the guy that trusted me to become a “Show Runner” for 6 races. He was an amazing boss and an inspiration to love my state beyond what I ever thought possible. I didn’t take my camera last night on purpose because I wanted to enjoy the moments as they unfolded, but there were some pics I couldn’t resist of course……
Just three or four more sleeps considering on how you count…….Race Day is Sunday, 2-19-17…..when Dennis asked me what I wanted for Valentine’s Day, I told him I couldn’t think of anything I would rather do than spend it with the family that took me in their circle in 1996….it was made especially wonderful that I was there to see two incredible guys get recognized for their contributions to the event I Love more than any other in my great state of Alaska.
