It’s a beautiful day in Nome. We landed in the late morning, volunteers are putting up banners, the garage is being readied, banners are lining the chute and the leader board is still shaking……..right now the board looks so different than it did at 5:14 AM that is for sure…….
Team 10 has gained some time and geography which is the name of the Iron Dog game!!!! If all stays on task for the racers headed to White Mt. they will leave and ……
Resumed my story at 9:59 PM Tuesday night…..
That has been my day…..I started it sometime at 2:03 AM and finalized the packing of bags, drove to the airport and parked in the Number Sweet 16 and then got to Nome before noon, starting to sit down and get an update posted before my day blew up…..and well…..here it is all blown up.
Teams came to the Nome line in great spirits and in typical fashion there will be some long long stories told in the next 42 hours…..
I have pictures of sleds, of faces of beat up bodies, and I am too tired to post them….I promise to wake up with my own good attitude and start fresh, but for right now I am too dog tired to get anymore done.
The garage is about ½ full with machines, 11 teams in as of now and when I left tonight at 9:22 Team #17 had 9 more minutes of inspection time. The garage is warm so most of the first 7 team sleds were thawed and I would suspect that there will be more inspections tonight…..or very early in the morning….they need to make a list of parts and plan for on-the-clock time work sometime Wednesday.
I promise to get the many more pictures posted tomorrow between trips to the garage…..until then, wish me sweet dreams!!!! Dog Tired Den Mother…….
