Pro Class starts February 17, 2024, (Saturday) on Big Lake!
The Iron Dog Pro Class is a highly competitive race. It is the World’s Longest, Toughest Snowmobile Race. The race course spans more than 2,500 miles on some of Alaska’s most rugged terrain. Each Pro Class race team consists of two racers and two snowmachines that are released in intervals.
This event does not require any qualifying race to enter (however Iron Dog reserves the right to refuse an entry for any reason). The Iron Dog is the World’s Longest, Toughest Snowmobile Race, it covers more than 2,500 miles as it traverses the Alaskan backcountry. Starting on Big Lake, Pro Class racers travel over the Alaska Range to the Yukon River, they continue traveling north, inland around the “Red Dog Loop” before reaching Kotzebue. From Kotzebue they head southward to the halfway point in Nome. After leaving Nome, Pro Class Racers will reverse course to finish back in Big Lake, AK. This is a team race, consisting of two persons, and two snowmachines (track driven and ski steered). Participants pass through some 23 communities during the race, gathering momentum and spectators as they go.
