Fuel & Checkpoint Update from Race Headquarters

Due to a combination of higher snowfall, challenging weather conditions, and lower attrition across the race field, several checkpoints have experienced record fuel consumption.

Fuel quantities are traditionally calculated using historical race data; however, the unique conditions of this year’s race have resulted in significantly higher-than-average usage.

A select number of teams later in the field experienced fuel shortages at the following remote checkpoints:

• Tatina

• Poorman

• Ophir

These checkpoints are extremely remote and do not have any services available beyond the fuel and oil provided by Iron Dog.

Fuel has now been replenished at Poorman, and Iron Dog is actively evaluating fuel levels at all remaining checkpoints due to the increased consumption across the field.

Iron Dog Headquarter and Race Marshals are actively working with the impacted teams to ensure timing adjustments and race considerations are addressed in a fair and reasonable manner.

The situation has affected only a small number of teams and does not impact the majority of teams currently racing.

We appreciate the professionalism and resilience of our racers as we navigate these challenging conditions.

More updates to follow.
